Task avoidance …

Well task avoidance is going well - I should be working on some press releases for blueeyesphoto.com, but instead I am managing to do everything else but! I sometimes wish my email program didn’t load automatically when I start the computer up - as it’s a great distraction.

5000bc.com is a source of much information and many ideas for me. In fact I was reading one of their latest Brain Audit publications, the rip ebook. Basically Sean explains how he improved his website complete with visuals and reasons. Fab! It made me thing about testimonials for my own website, and how I could ask for them. Another thing for the to do list!

I shot this because I love the brightness of the colours and the contrast.

Photography life ..

Life is busy at the moment, and the colours are turning on the trees really fast. I am due to travel to Scotland in the next few days, but suspect the colours won’t be so advanced there as I was near Birmingham yesterday and the colours were only just turning.

Yesterday was spent photographing cots at a nursery. Not my usual thing, but still interesting. One little chap was fascinated with the tripod - only I think because he could pull himself up to standing using it. He also liked have his picture taken. The older children were much more inclined to approach the camera and try to give it a toy!

Today it’s back to editing, making changes to the website - my latest competition ended at midnight on Tuesday, and other exciting jobs like finding out where my parcel went. Both the printer and I are baffled as to why Parcel Force have held onto it for 4 days. Let’s just hope it arrives undamaged … That was after I’d figured out why my broadband connection wasn’t working, which involved the obligatory three calls to BT, and listening to some amusing automated messages. The best started with a very abrupt “we’re busy”, which made me smile - who isn’t this days?! Still once I got through to a real person it was easy to sort out.

Photograph of a hand painted Chinese tile

These tiles, all individually painted surround Ordination Hall within the Grand Palace, Bangkok. Absolutely exquisite.

Thai Wood Carving

I photographed this Thai wood carving at a ‘craft centre’ outside of Bangkok, Thailand. The craftspeople were demonstrating their skill and this completed version was on display so you appreciate the quality of the work. I love the details - the monkeys in the trees and the leaf details.

Floating market photograph

I photographed this lady at the Floating Markets outside of Bangkok.

In the old days this is were the locals met to buy their fruit & veg, nowadays it’s largely dominated by visiting tourists and sadly most of the goods on sale cater for this market.

Back in the UK

After traveling through Asia for a couple of weeks, I am now back home, and back to the humble routine of everyday life. One of the fantastic things about being a photographer is the ability to re live your memories through the photographs you have taken. So any time I need some sun, I’ll just start editing the Phuket images!

I really notice the change in the weather when I arrived home. The trees have started to turn, and the air is fresh, which is wonderful after a humid heat. It won’t be long before I’m heading off to Scotland to capture the changing season there too. It’s lovely to travel overseas, but there are places here that are equally as stunning.
