Hi my name is Sue Kennedy, owner of Blue Eyes Photography Ltd and an Essex-based photographer. I am a creative photographer who is constantly striving to imaginatively capture on film outstanding interpretations of the wonderful world we live in. I like to go beyond the ordinary, too…
Let’s face it, anyone can take a photograph, and there are a lot of uninspiring photographs out there. But it’s something else to present in an extraordinary way what might be seen as ordinary.
My work is about capturing and interpreting the very unique spirit of a given place at a given moment in time. It’s about the photographer being the choreographer of the various components, rather than just recording what is already there. The composition is critical, as is the lighting, subject, weather conditions and the colours at play. But ultimately it’s about capturing a vivid art form.
My goal is to share with you my vision of the world through my take on landscape photography, canvases and greeting cards.
From Investment Banking to a Return in Investment
Many years ago, I spent my days locked away in an office in the name of banking. Today, I am a qualified Licentiate of the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP – the qualifying body for professional photographers in the UK) and the Master Photographers Association (MPA). Membership of BIPP is dependent on a rigorous assessment process, and only the best are accepted.
I am fortunate in that not only was I accepted, but I am also fulfilling my dream of landscape photography, travelling regularly to far-flung destinations and photographing vivid and wonderful images and locations at all hours of the day.
Having been featured in various magazines and on BBC Radio, my limited-edition photography is becoming more and more sought after throughout the world. Some say that buying from me is an art investment. I truly hope so!
A Breakthrough Art Form
I specialise in natural-light photography and more specifically outdoor photographic images – typically, gardens, travel shots and landscapes, which includes most elements from close-up work through to scenic shots of the natural world. I am also extending this to include still-life work in the studio.
Thanks to the latest and best technology, I am able to bring my photographic interpretations of the outside world into the homes and offices across the globe – making every wall come alive. I am constantly adding to the online galleries and developing my own inimitable style of photography.
Diversity Pays Off
I have quite an unusual career history, and have been lucky enough to carry out a number of different and varied roles. I left behind a successful career with a major high-street bank to start my business, having spent 15 years with them.
A career in banking sounds dull, I know, but I was lucky enough to work in a wide range of departments, from Branches, Corporate Banking, Trade Services and a Head Office Marketing department to my final role in Diversity.
Initially, I fitted in the photography around my day job – having originally started taking pictures as a child – and gradually developed my skills through experience and various courses over many years.
The upshot is that I feel confident in turning my camera-clenched hand to any type of photography – from kids’ portraits (I am founder of the innovative Blue Eyes Kids Photography) to sweeping landscapes and everything in between – and consistently producing creative results.
